Flow rate tells you how much water leaves the spout in a given time. On most datasheets it appears as Q, measured at a reference pressure—commonly 0.3 MPa (≈ 3 bar) dynamic pressure for European and Australian testing, or 60 psi for North American testing.

For commercial restrooms, the target flow rate depends on local water-efficiency rules and the fixture’s duty cycle:

  • Hotel and office basin mixers: 4–6 L/min (1.1–1.6 GPM) is the typical comfort-efficiency balance.
  • Healthcare scrub stations: 6–9 L/min (1.6–2.4 GPM) supports rapid hand washing.
